The Safe List Defined

A safe list is basically an email discussion list that you become a ' member ' of.The terms you agree to when you enroll is that you will permit all the members of the list to send email to YOU in exchange for the right to send email to THEM without having to worry about spam complaints.

Some lists allow daily postings, some only allow weekly posting and some are based on a ' credit 'system where you earn 'mailing credits' by reading the emails you recieve from the list and visiting website links from those emails. Usually for each ' mailing credits ' you earn ( or that you purchase) you can send an email to one member of the list. For example ...if you had 10,000 credits in your account and the list had 13,000 members ,you could only send to 10,000 of those members. Please be sure to read and understand the rules of each list you join.

Get Yourself a Separate Email account

You will receive a LOT of email from the various safe lists that you join , so I recommend getting a separate email account that will handle a large volume of inbound email. This email address is the one you will use as ' List Email ' every time you join a new safe list.

Please note that this email address will be different from the one you will use in the BODY of your messages to the list.

There are several free or low-cost web-based email accounts that are suitable for dealing with the volume of email you'll be recieving.

Here are some of safe lists that I belong to . I've divided them into FREE and PAID lists. Start off by joining one , or all , of the free ones first..then, if you can afford it...I highly recommend joining one or more of paid lists. You'll find the paid lists to be more responsive because they will attract a more serious crowd than the free ones. Most of the free ones also offer paid membership which give you the ability to email MORE people ! The paid ones DO NOT have the option to join for free.

There are many more safelists out there , but these s ones should be more than enough to get you started. After you've mastered these ...go find some more.

Get yourself a 3-ring binder or a spiral notepad to keep track of each safelist you join. For each list, write down the name ,website addresss ,your username, password, and how often you can mail to to the list. Use this as a daily checklist to ensure that you don't miss any of your lists in your daily routine.

Method 1- Reading Their Emails

Read some of the emails that arrive in your separate safelist email account .Scan the emails for contact information . Look for names , phones numbers, contact email addresses,...etc. Most of them won't contain any real information...but some will...and these are what you're looking for. Once you have a name and/ or email address you can contact these people about their ads !

The emails you send to these people will be exactly like the ones described in chapter 8, when we were contacting people in Newsgroups and Classified Ads. Remember,..no sales letters or advertisements... just show interests and get the person into communication with you.

When any of these people reply to your emails in a positive way, add their contacts information to your ' Verified Contacts ' list in the Group Mail and start building the relationship.

Don't use your special safelist email account to correspond with these people. Instead , use your regular email address otherwise their responses will get lost in the thousands of emails you'll recieve in your safelist email account .

Delete each email in your safelist email account after you've scanned it and copied down all the contact email addresses and phone numbers.Go through this routine once a day. If your free email account starts filling up too fast, pay and upgrade it and get more storage space. Most safelists will automatically suspend your account if your email address is full and can't recieve mail.

Method 2 - Sending YOURS Emails

Send the following message to each of your safelists once a day if possible. Type it into Notepad , replace my info and contact data with yours , and save it to your desktop as " Safe List email ". This way you can easily open , copy and paste into the send foms of various safe lists. Some lists will only alllow you to mail once a week or every couple of days. If this is the case , just send as close to daily as possible :

Make sure to replace MY contact information with your own . Keep in mind that not everyone reads their safelist emails. In fact , most people just delete them. However , some people do scan their safelist emails from time to time...so make your subject lines stand out.

Your first goal is to attract atention and get the person to actually open and read your email. Some of the safelists I ' ve recommended above , the credit based ones, give incentive for their members to open and read their emails and earn more mailing credits. These are generally very responsive.

Play with your subject lines. Be creative. Don't send sales letters. Don ' t send ads. Offer your contact information, etc.The idea is to generate a contact list at this point. In chapter 12 I'm going to go into great detail about how to follow up and maintain your correspondence with the contacts on your list.

Once you've implemented the strategies in this Ecourse , you WILL generate a contact list. They'll trickle in at first , then increase a little, then increase a LOT. Just be patient and nurture your list into a thriving warm market who will purchase from you again and again and again...but more on that in the next chapter.
